1960 Fiat Bambino 500cc Station Wagon (Giardiniera)
The Fiat 500 Bambino Convertible Sedan was very well received in Australia and was the replacement for the Topolino. Many were sold and there are quite a few surviving in Australia . However it appears that only 50 Station Wagons were imported into Australia and only a handful remain. Called the “Giardiniera” (Flower box) in Italy due to its squarish shape and opening roof it is keenly sought after in Europe as a collector’s item as not many were manufactured. It will hold four adults plus luggage and the engine is situated at the rear beneath the luggage floor. Our vehicle has been immaculately restored in an original red which is most striking. This is another vehicle which screams “Italian” and due to the Bambino Sedan is instantly recognisable. Most common comment heard, ”I didn’t know they made a Station Wagon”. As with all our cars this one has been restored to its original condition as it left the factory. Top speed is around 95 to 100 Kph, considerably less fully laden.
